The battlefield is the only world we’ve ever known: uneven, dangerous, and evolving. A haze of smoke settles to the ground, but who proved the victor is yet to be known. False Witness’ 3rd official EP, The Art of Fighting, re-imagines the lessons of the digital past as a means to take on the onset of a gory, disturbingly collusive future. Picking apart conceptual cues from horror and rhythm music video games, each of the four tracks fights its way through a barrage of sirens, demons, and car crashes to a climax that is half club anthem, half call to arms.
The first official single from the release, REVOLT, is a bubbling inspired storm of indestructible air raid sirens and a fury of dancehall horns, announcing the beginning of the end. False Witness then joins with fellow #KUNQ producer Kala on Panic Room (To Lose One’s Nerve): an anxious brainchild of familiar horror themes with globally influenced drum work. Perfect Attack is the glitch laden soundtrack of an youth teetering on the edge of chaos and revelation, inspired by the years the artist spent as an adolescent inside MIT’s now defunct student arcade. Last, TRUST is the most club forward track on the EP, where False Witness returns to his themes of embracing ‘total ecstasy’ while battling the darkness that lies within it.
Since 2013, False Witness has been a rotating resident DJ of GHE20G0TH1K, the globally celebrated club night created by artist and visionnaire, Venus X. The Art of Fighting is False Witness’ first EP with the newly founded GHE20G0TH1K Records. Along with promoting the release, False Witness is also embarking on a month long North American Tour, with dates in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Montreal, and an official showcase at SXSW 2017 in Austin, Texas.
